macOS Big Sur support update

15 September 2021

There have been recent updates for two of INSUL's third party dependencies.  With these updates, INSUL is now able operate on macOS Big Sur (macOSv11).

  • Intel chip
During recent testing, INSUL has been able to operate normally.

  • Apple (M1) chip
INSUL has been able to operate during testing, but it relies on the Rosetta 2 translator that is included with Big Sur.  This seems to cause INSUL to run a little slower than normal.

Please note that, to date, our testing program for Big Sur has been limited to a handful of different Apple computers running Big Sur and only one of these has an Apple (M1) chip.  At present we are not certain that INSUL will work successfully on every type of Apple running Big Sur ~ certain combinations of computer and chip type may not work as well.
